Wd sharespace software

Flash I am in the same boat my friend, I just setup my My Book World Edition II Network Drive and went to install the CD and the boxes are there but no text in them… I also have a passport that has the same issue when I click on the setup files in the actual external drive. Something must have happened since I first installed my Passport and now since both are experiencing the same problem with the install software… I see some similar problems with this gentleman:. My sister has a WD Book thing and I have one as well… older models… from we purchased them, they gave problems.

To download the the software thinking my CD was corrupt I had to go thru a registration gammut…. Simply put, the green "handles" on each drive are rubbish. They flex horribly and aren't even held on properly — they are only "attached" by a small pin, not even screwed in.

We expected better. Features As these products go, the ShareSpace offers a bare-bones feature set that is more in keeping with the small office market it is targeting. The most consumer-orientated feature is the onboard iTunes server, but unfortunately there's no UPnP server for devices like the PlayStation 3. Connection to the network is via Gigabit ethernet.

Performance We found the device was easy to install, with the disk-based installation quick and straightforward. Unlike some cheaper "NAS" devices, the WD install is only a finder and doesn't install any software on client machines — it simply lets you assign the ShareSpace to an IP address on the network.

You can then assign network drives as local shares on each machine. Of course, if your router is prone to falling over you may lose your shares due to the fact they are IP based, and have to rerun the install disk, as we found. While businesses may have a use for this function if they're willing to risk unknown file sizes, it's a little beyond consumers.

Even re-adding the box to the domain and achieving a Success notice does not fix this issue. I accept that you you may start the winbind at a particular OU in AD so is it possible for us to edit the file in the OS to start looking from a defined OU? We have 5 of these boxes and have be satisfied with them but disappointed with the speed.

I am hoping this upgrade improves that. Any assistance you could provide would be appreciated. We are running a AD but running with at a Functional Level. I saw in your release notes you have added support for which is great, but how much support? I agree with dimitryy. I found annoying that I have to put my WD ShareSpace on an unsecured connection to be able to load the new firmware when my device is protected by firewall and proxy of attach from the Web.

I have company information on this device that I do not want to see leaking. So I would appreciate from WD to either publish the new firmware for download or find a way to configure the WD ShareSpace through a proxy. Empiricaly I managed to discover the following hints for the update version 2.

I wish you good luck while updating your system! Anyway I just need a fix as although I can access movies, music and photos via my TV other applications are inaccessible and also how am i supposed to add further files??? The Problem still exists after the firmware update to v 2.
